Assignment 3 - W.I.P

Here's my work in progress for my own birthday card design.

First of all, I used the same font and background color.

Then I traced the cartoon face and hair from reference by using a pen tool. I used different layer for each different part such as hair and face.

After that, by using the pen tool, I trace the shading part of his face in different layer.

Next I put some color for face and hair. Then I used a gradient tool for certain part.

Then I moved to next part, which is hand and body. Same tools as before which is the pen tool.

After several traces, coloring and gradient, one cartoon character is finished and ready to change position.

I placed him in proper position based on my sketch.

For star, I used a star tool to create stars. Then I arranged it in proper position based on my sketch.

To play save, I've convert all font into outlines because not all computers have the same font.

For the inside of the birthday card, I've copy the cartoon character and transform it by reflect it in vertical.

Then I slightly rotate his head and delete his right arm.

After that, I copy the right and transform it by reflect it in vertical axis.

I've changed the background color and again, used the pen tool to create a speak bubble.

Adding the text inside the speak bubble.

Then change the stroke of the speak bubble to make it much more beautiful.

Finally, It's finished.

Assignment 2 - W.I.P

Here's my work in progress for my assignment 2.

1st of all, I rearranged the reference.

Then I used rectangle tool to create sky and calendar background.

After that, I created font for calendar by using type tool. I choose the arial font with bold because arial font is a standard font in any media. For 31st, I changed the color to red, blue, and the stroke is yellow because these colors represent Malaysian flag which is related to Hari Merdeka.
For white line, I used line segment tool.

Then I used pen tool to draw a jet. Then I draw a line with slightly curve to create a jet's smoke. To make smoke much more detail, I choose chalk scribble brush for it's stroke. Then I copied three of a jet with smoke and edit it until I satisfied.

For Tunku Abdul Rahman, I traced him from the reference picture by using the pen tool. Then I filled his skin with white color and his cloth with black color. Some pattern on his cloth filled with white color.

I used pen tool to draw Dataran Merdeka, Klcc and cloud. Then I filled them with appropriate color. I choose black and white color because I followed concept and stylization from the reference calendar which is really nice.

Then It's completed. Here's my final output for my calendar. MERDEKA!!

Assignment 1 - WIP

I've decided to choose logo no. 2,

I've been looking for information about Nando's. "Nando's is a restaurant chain originationg from South Africa with a Portugese-theme." from wikipedia. No wonder the logo slightly resembles South Africa and Portuguese cultures.

Now I'm working on my own logo design. I tried to sketch it on my A4 paper and I'll try my best to design and improve it just as long as it has meaning in our local context.
